We all want whiter, brighter teeth. Science has shown us that the first two features someone notices about your face are your eyes and your mouth. An appealing smile says more in an instant than words can ever say.
A beautiful smile can be achieved in less than 30 minutes!
Finding the Best Treatment for You
Schedule a visit with your hygenist to learn whether whitening procedures would be effective for you. Whiteners do not correct all types of discoloration. For example, yellowish teeth will probably bleach well, brownish teeth may bleach less well, and grayish teeth may not bleach well at all. Likewise, whitening may not enhance your smile if you have had tooth-colored fillings or crowns. The whitener will not affect the color of these materials and they will stand out in your newly whitened smile. It will remove any existing stains on the restorations, but will not affect the original shade.
What is tooth whitening?
Tooth whitening is a process known as oxidation. Any discolorations within the tooth will be lightened. Organic materials break down to remove the staining and create a whiter brighter smile.
Professional Teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening by your dental professional is your best choice when you need immediate whitening results. This procedure is called in-office whitening.
In-Office Tooth Whitening:
This whitening procedure itself takes less than 30 minutes. However, your appointment may last longer to allow time for your dental professional to explain the procedure, expected outcome, tips for maintaining a longer lasting bright smile, and general information about teeth whitening.
After professionally cleaning your teeth, a resin barrier is applied to the gum areas surrounding the teeth to protect them from coming into contact with the whitening gel. Pola Office+ gel is then placed directly on your teeth and will remain in contact with them for a total of 24 minutes consisting of approximately 3 X 8 minute applications. The whitening gel is broken down and oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, and the stains are "dissolved".
For the majority of patients, there are no side effects. However, some will experience temporary sensitivity (dull or sharp, sensitivity to hot or cold). You may request Soothe desensitizing gel. Soothe is a gel used before or after your teeth are professionally whitened to help decrease sensitivity.
Take Home Trays:
These are custom made trays (similar to a mouth guard) that you wear when you want to, in the comfort of your home. These trays are part of a take home do-it-yourself whitening kit.
